Meet Tamzur Karim: Licensed Professional Counselor Associate
Many clients I work with are used to pushing through stress, holding everything together, and taking care of others, while quietly feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected from themselves. Over time, this can begin to show up not only emotionally, but physically as well.
My background uniquely bridges medicine and mental health. As a foreign-trained medical doctor with extensive hospital experience, I developed a deep understanding of how stress, trauma, and emotional strain can impact the body. This perspective continues to shape my work today, allowing me to support clients in a more holistic and integrated way.
I went on to earn my Master’s degree in Psychology from Central Connecticut State University and have worked in a variety of clinical settings, both internationally and in the United States. My experience includes individual therapy, group work, biofeedback, hypnotherapy, and supporting overall emotional well-being.
I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, chronic stress, and health-related concerns. I also support individuals experiencing postpartum changes, emotional overwhelm, and challenges related to identity, expectations, or family dynamics.
My approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and grounded in both evidence-based practices and mind–body awareness. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, narrative therapy, and nervous system-focused strategies to help clients better understand their patterns, regulate emotional responses, and build practical tools for daily life.
In our work together, we focus not only on insight, but also on helping you feel more stable, clear, and capable in how you move through your day-to-day life.
I am currently based in Connecticut and working toward full licensure in Mental Health Counseling. I aim to create a space where you feel supported, respected, and able to reconnect with yourself both emotionally and physically.
I believe meaningful healing happens when we slow down, listen to what both the mind and body are communicating, and move forward with intention, care, and clarity.
