Meet Tamzur: Mental Health Counseling Intern

My professional background bridges medicine and mental health, allowing me to approach therapy through a holistic mind–body lens. As a foreign-trained medical doctor with extensive experience in hospital settings, I developed a deep understanding of how emotional distress, chronic stress, and trauma often show up physically in the body.

Motivated by this connection, I pursued advanced training in psychology and earned a Master’s degree in Psychology from Central Connecticut State University (CCSU). I have worked in diverse clinical settings, both internationally and within the United States, providing individual therapy, group therapy, biofeedback, hypnotherapy, and employee well-being support.

I support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, chronic illness, chronic pain, and postpartum depression. My approach integrates evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with mindfulness, narrative therapy, hypnotherapy, and mind–body interventions. Therapy is always individualized, with careful attention to emotional processing, nervous system regulation, and developing practical, sustainable coping tools.

I am currently based in Connecticut and am on the path toward licensure in Mental Health Counseling. My therapeutic style is collaborative, compassionate, and trauma-informed. I strive to create a safe and supportive space where clients feel understood, empowered, and able to reconnect with both their emotional and physical experiences.

I believe meaningful healing occurs when the mind and body are addressed together, with care, patience, and respect for each person’s unique journey.
