Bertha Argueta

Hello , I’m Bertha and I’m glad you’re here. I am an Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (MFT-A).  I received  my bachelor of Science in Pastoral Ministry from Northpoint Bible College (Formerly Zion Bible College)  and my Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University.

I have experience working with couples seeking to strengthen their marital bond, create effective communication patterns and increase intimacy. I am certified as a SYMBIS and Prepare/Enrich premarital counseling facilitator and work with couples wishing to create a firm foundation for their marriage. When working with children and their families dealing with anxiety and depression, I incorporate play in the therapy sessions to allow children to learn and heal through play.Research suggests play therapy is an effective mental health approach, regardless of age, gender or the nature of the problem. Play is our first language. When playing, we express thoughts and feelings that might otherwise remain hidden.”

I also specialize in psycho-educational support groups focused on anxiety, depression, new moms and faith-based women’s empowerment groups. I also practice Faith-based counseling and I utilize it when requested by my clients by incorporating faith based practices such as prayer and scripture at client’s request. I am fluent in both English and Spanish and provide services in both English and Spanish.

I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Through CBT, we work to replace irrational thoughts. Thoughts that once led to depression, anxiety and anger will be replaced. This leads clients to feel empowered and in control of how they feel. I also utilize family systems-based theories and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) when working with individuals and families. I enjoy working with women, teens, couples, families and treating children as young as 6 years of age. Among the various approaches I utilize to treat clients and help them meet their goals are: cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems-based theories, emotion focused therapy, play therapy techniques, and a faith-based approach. I am passionate about providing a safe, judgement free environment for individuals and families to process their pain, develop healthy ways of coping, highlight their strengths, and feel empowered to move forward. My faith is very important to me and I consider it the foundation of my life.

A little about me…

In my free time, I enjoy cooking, and spending time with my husband and children around the fireplace on cold nights. I love traveling, and twice a week I make it a point to volunteer at my church.

Let’s connect to see if we’re a fit.
